Creating a workflow for ICMP monitoring. Need help.
Hello,
My OpManager version is 12.1.
I am trying to create a behavior concerning ICMP availabilty. Currently, within OpManager 12.1, you can not alter the behavior of availability monitoring (ICMP monitoring). 1 miss poll is notification, 3 is warning, and 5 is critical. I am attempting to use workflows to go around this restriction.
The desired behavior is as such. If a poll is missed, there is a delay, after that delay Opmanager will try to ping the device again. If usuccessful, there will be one more delay, and a final ping request.
If at any time the device responds to ping requests, I want to clear the alarm, and send notifications that the alarm has been cleared.
If it fails the final ping request, I want it to generate a critical alarm send a notification.
When the process has been completed and the device is responding properly, I want any and all alarms concerning availability to be acknowledged and cleared.
I think it can be done, I am just kind of in the dark on the mechanisms of workflow manager. Are there any guides/howtos/or other media to assist me? For example, if I make an OpManager task of 'clear alarm' after a successful ping, does it clear the general ICMP alarm? Does it clear the alarm I generated within the workflow? How does that work?
Thanks,
Blane
