Couple of questions
Firstly, I want to tell you how impressed I was with installation and configuration. Within 15 minutes of starting the download, I had my test lab in the console and software being pushed down to it.
I have a couple of questions.
Firstly, we are a decent sized company, with 9 sites and somewhere around 700 workstations. I see you can define office locations by IP range, which is very helpful. However- is there any replication between site repository servers, or am I expected to install a full version of the Desktop Central server at each location, and then maintain each servers' configuration and deployments seperately? It'd be awful nice if when setting up a package I could define a "location" variable in the MSI location string, and then just use a file server local to each LAN for a repsitory. Perhaps I'm missing something simpler, I welcome your suggestions on that front.
Secondly- it seems if I try to deploy software sitting on a network share to the computer object with the "AT STARTUP" option checked, I get a permissions error. I'm assuming it's because Desktop Central is trying to access the installation set with "system" credentials, and is not passing any network credentials for authentication. What's the best practice in this scenario, other than exposing my install sets to "everyone"? I'm fairly sure that authentication is the issue- if I push it to the machine, but then use the "anytime" schedule for installation, and then launch "Apply Computer Configuration" from the TSR, installs happen fine.
