I’m a complete newbie to OpManager, and even anything related to the us of SNMP, and am having trouble getting started with the setup.
I’ve discovered devices, categorised some of them as Servers (Vendor: Hewlet Packard; category: server; Type: HP Prolient Server). I’ve enabled SNMP on the servers. I’m really not sure what the SNMP setting are supposed to be on the servers but on the Security Tab I’ve set up the Community name as ‘Public (which is the SNMP credential I gather opmanager is using) and the rights as ‘READ ONLY, and the ‘Accept SNMP Packets from these hosts’ with the IP address of the server that OpManager is installed on.
On the ‘Traps’ tab I have the Community name as ‘Public’ and the Trap Destinations as the IP address of the server that OpManager is installed on.
I’ve configured performance monitors for the servers on OpManager, but the snapshot tells me for the various monitors 'No Data Available'.
I've gone into 'Passwords' and set the 'Use this Snmp Credential' to 'Public', and the 'Use the below credentials for the device' with the Domain Administrator account details. When I click Test Credential' I get told that SNMP is failing because 'SNMP service may not be running on the device' [the services console tells me it is running] or 'SNMP parameters may be wrong' or 'Firewall could be blocking the SNMP port’ [Windows Firewall is disabled, and there is no firewall within the network]. And I also get told 'Unable to establish CLI Connection to the device'.
And I have a recent alarms telling me 'The ColdStart trap is received from [name of server]. The trap details are as follows' [with no following details provided].
I've found no useful troubleshooting information about these errors. Can anyone tell me what I've missed, where I've gone wrong, or where I go from here to troubleshoot these issues?
