Cisco interface descriptions and modifing alarms?

Hello,

I am currently evaluating OpManager as a network monitoring solution. I am unfortunately unable to spend a lot of time with this product for testing at this time. I had a few questions about the product and was wondering if some people would be kind enough to answer my questions.

Question 1: The network that this would be used to monitor is a cisco network. When I discover a switch and OpManager pulls the switch in, it lists the ports starting with the number 1 and goes on from there instead of listing the exact interface name. This does make it a little difficult to immediately identify the port that is having a problem when an alarm comes in but, if you look at the details of the alarm, it does give the interface so that is manageable.

However when looking at the switch and viewing the interface tab, under the description column, it cuts off the full interface name So instead of seeing "FastEthernet5/24" I see "FastEther...".

Is there a way to increase that column width so I can see the full interface name?

Question 2: Is it possible to modify the default alarms? What I would like to setup is if an interface remains down for something like 2 or more weeks straight, it would create an alarm or notification. This would make auditing the switches easier for when ports are no longer in use, they can be reclaimed.

Right now the alarm by default will immediately come through if the interface is down. This would only be ideal for ports with servers. If its a port with users on them then it is annoying because it could be the user shutting down their PC and leaving for the night.

I do see where I can turn on and off this alarm for each individual interface. But not where I can set the threshold for how long the port needs to be down.

Question 3: Is there a way to sort the columns when looking at the interfaces of a switch? For example, I want to see on a single switch the order in which the interfaces are being utilized, I don't see how I can sort the interfaces by showing the highest utilized port first.

Thanks for your time.
