I notice that whenever I do a Patch Scan, every machine that has Chrome installed shows up in DC as needing the latest version of Flash. This occurs when Chrome (and up to date) is installed and: 1) no other Flash player is installed. 2) ActiveX flash is installed (up to date or not). 3) ActiveX and Plugin Flash are installed (up to date or not).
For example: On my scans today, I noticed that a newly introduced Server was needing a Flash update (utility program needs it). Fine, I install the latest flash update (11.6.602.168 ActiveX) and rescan it. Desktop Central finished the scan, and reports that it still needs the update. I've verified that Flash 11.6.602.168 is properly installed, and no other versions of flash exist on the machine. However if I remove Chrome from the machine ( Version 24.0.1312.57 m) it scans clean.
A few notes: 1) We use the Enterprise installation of Chrome on Win7x64 and Server 2008R2 machines. The major difference is that it installs to the "Program Files (x86)" directory instead of the users profile.
2) When looking at the "File and Registry" details of the scan, when Chrome is installed and the ActiveX version of Flash is installed, I get a Display Value of "11.6.602.168" in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Flash Player Plugin", which is the latest version of the product.
