Changing User Password without Agent
Hi,
We have purchased Password Manager with the idea of using it in our enterprise. We need the capability to change a user password in LINUX without an agent installed. Here is and example of the situation.
1. Say we have a userid on a Linux computer named Bob. We want to change the password on Bob using the Password Manager.
2. We login to Password Manager, find the resource (computer) and expand to see the user Bob.
3. We then click on Change Password (keys) which opens the Change Password dialog box.
4. We click on the automated password generator which populates the two password blanks (New Password, Confirm Password) with the new password.
5. We click on box that says "Apply password changes to the remote resource" and click on save.
When we do the above we get the error "Credentials not supplied for remote password synchronization". The account password we are resetting is not the root account and in fact we do not want to use the root for this as ssh (properly configured with security in mind) should not allow a remote root login. But a password reset should be allowed for that account just by using its own login/password and sending the passwd command (followed by the appropriate dialog).
Is this possible to do without having the root password registered with the resource?
