Change detection & Startup config on a catalyst IOS swit

just wondering if anyone is able to help with this.
it seems like when real-time change detection is enabled on a catalyst ios switch, DeviceExpert can detect changes in running-config and make backups, but it is not able to detect changes in startup-config.
if "copy run start" is issued right after changing the running-config, the startup-config does get backed up (guess when DE detect running-config change, it also attempts to backup startup-config as well).
