I have a very basic asset management question here......
I create a new asset. System assigns it to the Asset Type - Workstation.
I spend 3 hours digging through every single buttons and tab trying to figure out the simplest of steps. How to change an asset from the type "Workstation" to the type "server" for example.
You see, this is really important to my boss. We just purchased 3 brand spanking new $8000 dollar servers for our organization, one for each of the branch offices. When he pulls a report of assets, he comes ot my office wanting to know why the $8000 dollar servers he just bought are listed as workstations and change them, thank you very much.
So, off I go on my hunt, looking for a way to change the type of an asset. However, the fates were against me. Apparently, you see, the simplest change from one type to another can not be done!
Say it isn't so Jethro!
So, short story long, can anyone on the support team tell me if, in fact, you CAN NOT change the type of an asset and that any NEW asset added into the database will become AUTOMATICALLY and IRREVOCABLY a workstation? And, if so WHY NOT?
I'm growing tired of this peice of software. Fo something that's supposed ot make my life as an IT Manager easier, this POS sure ain't doing it's job.
