i am able to successfully embed a dashboard view into SharePoint for my users to look at. See my attached screen shot.
The problem i have is my users are actually able to follow links in CCTV view, view other dashboards, individual servers, and even change server asset information!!! See my attached screen shot. I have setup the embedded user name and password using a limited user with read only access that can only view a limited business view. as far as i can tell, that is the total extent to which i can limit a user. Even with that, this limited user can click on a server link, click on asset details, and make a change!! (this probably should fall under 'Report a problem'.
however, the problem i am trying to solve is:
i would like a website my users can browse to see the latest network information that i want them to see, and nothing more.
i believe there are two ways to resolve that problem:
1) make a new user security class called view only that does not allow users in this security class to view/follow any links on a dashboard or cctv view.
2) give cctv view a new option, much like the refresh interval option, that will remove all links to any device, options, or settings.
Of course option 3 is to provide both. =)
I HAVE to assume there are others out there that have or would find great value in giving their users a limited insight into their network.
