Can I make global config changes for specific device types?

Hi, I'm evaluating OpManager 7 for our company. So far, I've been very pleased with the product and its features. However, there is one thing that is really bugging me...

For any given device type or category, I would like to be able to make global configuration changes that will affect all objects of that type or category. For example, I don't want to have alarms raised in OM7 for "desktops" that are not reachable, as this is common since people frequently turn off or reboot their desktop computers.

Another example would be with switches. I would like to make global threshold value changes instead of having to go into to each device, then to each interface on the device and then making threshold value changes.

Is it possible to make these types of changes in OM7?
