Beta Testing Before Releasing?!?!
Details from a Previous Forum post entitled SupportCentre v7.0 Bugs MARCH 14th where the Beta test suggestion was aired.....
Another waste of time.... let's hope the carnage this update has caused may help this move forward?
More pressure on this to go ahead the better for all, once again not a massive job but would make such a difference, please post your thoughts
Supportcenter Support - you just don't seem to get it, we are happy to test some things out for you and take some of our own time to HELP YOU!!!!! I'm not employed by you, and obviously some bugs will still get through, but if the suggestions below are taken on board it would save you , and us a lot of grief.......

Blimey Andy, great work!!!
I suppose I should think of a testing system myself, or hang on a few weeks before applying next time.
You have been extremely thorough and I, for one, appreciate the time and effort you have put into this.
Maybe it would be a good idea for supportcenter to make a copy of the new version available (like they do with their live demo online) to a few people so we can beta test.
The trouble is that if you create anything new in the new version this is likely to work, but anything legacy that we have can't really get tested.
We need to add things, such as your reports, and then get SC to upgrade their beta demo so that our previous reports can be tested in the next update.
What do you think?
Andy, thanks again!!

Rich,
I agree that a process of beta testing either for everyone or a limited subset of users would be a great idea. If nothing else it would help to remind people that applying upgrades directly onto production systems is never a good idea, no matter what the software manufacturer thinks
We're in a fortunate position where, as a software house ourselves, we have the facilities and resource to host a UAT (User Acceptance Testing) environment so that we were able to test this upgrade prior to releasing onto our production environment. This gave us the ability to test on our real-world data, data which I would not be in a position to release onto a testing site unfortunately. Therefore I think the best way to do this in the future would be as you suggest, for some of us to take part in a beta phase. It ought to prevent any major issues like the HTML email one you found from getting into the public domain.

Thanks Andy,
Hopefully the support guys can get a patch for these issues pretty quickly. For myself if we have found work-arounds to various issues that we are waiting for in the new release, then the extra week or so to wait for the release to bed in is a no brainer.
The suggestion of beta release is a good one, and one that our company follow. """"
Move forward... I doubt it, but hey... worth a go... yawn....
Cheers all post your thoughts!
