Benchmarking SDP Performance

We're planning to implement some of the suggested performance tuning suggestions but would like to have an objective way to measure performance pre and post implementation.
Are there any built in functionalities/metrics within SDP that we can use, is the response time for the Data Count in Table a reliable option?
