Availability and uptime

Availability and uptime

We have a scenario were unable to detect a sudden server reboot. We poll the server every 5 mins but if the server reboot in the 2nd minute and it finish the boot cycle in the 4th minute then AppManager will not detect the reboot. And the reports will not show how many times the server rebooted and still show 100% availability.

So, is it possible to compute the server availability by uptime of the OS server?
