Automated user provisioning with ADManager Plus’ HR database integration - Simplified Onboarding

Oracle and MS SQL databases, two of the most popular databases used today, have been  integrated with ADManager Plus , making it easy to provision user identities in an Active Directory (AD) environment.

Identity provisioning involves a lot of correspondence between the HR department and IT administrators to create a new AD user account. It also involves provisioning access permissions, group memberships, mail accounts, and more for new users. Performing these tasks manually is time consuming, effortful, and error prone. However, using ADManager Plus’ automation capabilities, AD user accounts can be created automatically based on data from your HR databases. Additionally, ADManager Plus offers the following benefits:

  • 360° user provisioning:  Simultaneously create users in Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, G Suite, and Skype for Business.
  • Easy exchange management for new employees:  Use the user creation template in ADManager Plus to simplify management of your new employees’ mail properties (such as storage limits, delivery restrictions, and more).
  • Group membership management:  Add new users to appropriate groups using template creation rules in ADManager Plus, eliminating incorrect group assignment due to human error.
  • Duplicate account prevention and streamlined naming formats:  Prevent duplicate accounts from being created in AD when generating new accounts. ADManager Plus also streamlines usernames by providing the option to customize naming formats.
  • Password management:  ADManager Plus offers various options for customizing new users’ passwords. New users can also use the Random Password feature to assign their account a strong, randomized password.

Using ADManager Plus to schedule automated user creation tasks

As shown below in Figure 1, admins can schedule automated AD user creation tasks, which can be configured to draw from an MS SQL or Oracle database as the data source for new user information. ADManager Plus fetches the information configured in these databases and automatically creates AD user accounts at a time scheduled by an admin.

While configuring an automation, you can choose from a list of appropriate user creation templates. For example, the user creation template shown in Figure 2 helps configure various settings for users, such as Exchange, passwords, group membership, and more.
