Bear with me...a number of related questions here:
Scenario1: One server with one IP address. An (A) record exists for this server with its name. However, we also have roughly (4) other (A) records in DNS, in a different zone, pointing to this IP. On this server, there are multiple websites, which are using this one IP.
In the above scenario, there is only one asset, even though there are technically (5) names or (A) records associated with this server. However, when scanning, it appears that SDP creates multiple records for each one of the names associated that IP address. This is also the case whereby the DNS name for the server is one name and the name of the Virtual Machine is another; a rare, but occasionally realistic, scenario.
Scenario2: On a server with multiple NICs/multiple IPs, how does SDP make the determination of which IP is listed as the primary IP?
Scenario3: Server with one NIC, but multiple IP addresses designated on the one NIC. Additionally, VIPs specified in a Windows Failover Cluster configuration. The IPs are not defined on the NIC, but rather within Failover Clustering. The IPs are listed when performing an ipconfig/all so I imagine SDP AssetExplorerAgent
should be able to pick up on that. Currently, only the primary/main IP on the NIC is listed on the details of the asset.
Thanks in advance!
