Asset Management - Per user software licensing
I have a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement. I am licensed by user, so if I assign a license to 'John Doe', then John Doe can have a copy of Excel on two separate computers, a workstation and a laptop.
I created a Software License:
- License Type: "Client Access License"
- License Option: "Per Seat - User"
I have assigned this license to several users.
Here is the issue:
- Enterprise - Unlimited installs, so I can't track compliance
- Enterprise Subscription - Unlimited installs, so I can't track compliance
- Client Access License - I can track per user, I can enter the number of cals. I can assign the users to the cals. HOWEVER, when I look at the software details for excel, it shows ALL copies are unlicensed, even though I have applied CAL licenses
It seems that you must license software PER COMPUTER to show compliance? A enterprise license is not unlimited, this is just incorrect. We need to be able to track installs by user, I don't care about how many workstations have the install, as long as I can track who is using the software.
How do I do this?
