Asset Loans with Ticket Workflow

Hello,

Has anyone looked into automating asset loans via ticket workflows? If so, how did you go about it? Here's what I've been tasked with:

1. User creates a ticket with a custom template that I'll call "Asset Loan Request".
2. User selects the amount of time they need the asset(s) and what type they need (laptop, monitor, etc.).
3. Technician can select the asset inside the ticket from a pool of available spare laptops. Once this field is saved, an asset loan is created for the user with the time term and asset(s) assigned.
4. The user is notified near the end of the loan period to either return the asset or extend the loan.

If there's no good way to do this, that's all I need to know. I've been having trouble incorporating the asset field in the request workflow.
