We are planning to enhance asset cost calculation. We plan to bring in the following cost split ups 

1) Purchase cost                       -- cost involved in purchasing the asset

2) Operational cost                    -- cost involved in bringing the asset to operation and to keep it operational 

3) Current cost                          -- cost worth of the asset after depreciation 

4) Total cost of ownership[TCO]  -- sum of purchase cost, operational cost, and cost of associated components

We plan to bring in these cost values as part of list view and reports. We expect your inputs on the following

How will you calculate the TCO of an asset ?

What cost factors(like maintenance/service cost, movement cost) will consitute TCO, will disposal cost be included in TCO ?

Will cost of software be included in TCO of an asset ?

What kind of split ups in cost (like operational cost, TCO) involved with an asset would be helpful ?

What kind of expenses will be considered as operational cost of an asset in your organization ?  We plan to consider all costs associated with an asset, apart from purchase & disposal costs, as operational cost. Is that correct ?

If there is any contracts for maintenance/service of assets, will the cost of those contracts be included in operational cost, if yes, how that would be divided for each asset ?

Do you need GL Code as part of cost tracking for an asset, will bringing in GL code be helpful ?

Will an UI to configure cost factors be helpful, can we have an option to mark cost factors that will fall under operational cost ?

What kind of reports on asset costs you would need ?  Different departments may need the data in different combinations or split ups,  For example, Operational cost for assets, Service cost of each assets, installation cost for assets etc, 

Anything else that you would like to have in as part of asset cost tracking ?
