I'm wondering if there is a way to archive those accounts (and potentially resources) that you don't need to manage anymore, but keep for reference purposes?

 

For example, we have changed the MSSQL database owner account for one of our apps to a new SQL login, but need to retain the old account details in the event that we need to restore the app and database to a specific point in time.  We no longer need to manage the account (complete integrity checks, enforce policy) but we don't want to delete the password details and history either.

 

Any suggestions?
