All SD6+ MSSQL Users Must Read!! (Backup/Disaster Recovery)
All,
We sucessfully migrated to MSSQL and are currently utilizing version 6005 of ServiceDesk Plus. More importantly, we currently are performing SQL backups of all of our ServiceDesk data along with the rest of our company data. We had our web front end ServiceDesk server crash due to a hard drive / raid failure. We failed over to our development ServiceDesk server and repointed the database. Everything seemed to be working fine.
It turns out though that we had NO access to any of our file attachments (none in the tickets, none in the solutions base, none at all!). This has been devistating to our operations. I have read in NO release notes or had been contacted by AdventNet stating that we would have to perform MANUAL file copy backups of the file attachment folder within the local ServiceDesk file structure. Note: These file attachments are all located in the C:\AdventNet\ME\ServiceDesk\fileAttachments folder (default).
Therefore, if you are running the MSSQL version of ServiceDesk Plus, you MUST conduct this MANUAL backup or else you will not be able to access any of your attachments if you were forced to do a complete restore of ServiceDesk.
AdventNet - What is currently being done to fix this so that ALL CRITICAL DATA is stored on the SQL database?
Please contact us immediately to follow-up on this issue.
