We are running opmanager as well as SDP. I would like to integrate these applications so I can have opmanager log a ticket in SDP. This is not the issue. My problem is that we have been trying to "trim" down the amount of alarms that opmanager generates. Some time back we made the integration, but we had to brake it, as opmanager generated some 8000 alarms during one hour. This was related to some "SNMP authentication Failure" problems we had... - Our Service Desk was not happy 8) I had to disable the "Send Authentication traps" on the servers (wich is not good, but I saw no other way around the problem, I cannot have thousands of alarms coming in, we will miss the important ones - And the Service Desk guys will kill me)
As a note here, there are a lot of vendor agents (ie HP, Dell and so on) that can generate the authentication traps...
Now we where pretty much ready to integrate the applications again (I thought)
This morning I had 900 new alarms that was generates as one of our system was taken down during the weekend. I get around 4 alarms every other 10 minutes.
Is there anyway around this?
I would like to have a filter that can be configured to only send one alarm even if there are 1000 alarms of the same. If the alarm is not cleared I can use the escalation to escalete it...
Without this, I can hardly see that we can make the integration work. This was the biggest selling point for opmanager (the integration) so I really hope this is fixable
