When defining an Alarm Escalation, what is the point of being able to define the rule timeframe down to minutes; (e.g. "If x category is not cleared within x minutes") ...if the email escalation can only be defined in hours? ( "Run this check every x hours")

If an alert has not been acknowledged or cleared within x minutes, I need to escalate it immediately via email; How does one achieve this?
