Agent queries shows red, Monitor did not respondI m als
Hello,
I saw a few other threads regarding a similar problem but I didnt find out a resolution sifting through the messages so far, thus here it goes..
I m getting problem with the CPU Utilization resource monitor, when using the linux-based OpManager, latest version. Please note that the Windows version works quite satisfactorily but I need to run the linux version.
This query affects the OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0 but many others, if not all, are ill-behaved in the same fashion.
Put simpy and to run a comparison, Ive indipendently set up a Windows in parallel with the linux based server. While the Windows one works, the linux one doesnt and just replies that the Monitor did not respond to the test request, in the relevant po-up window.
The target agent is the stock linux snmpd daemon from the Fedora FC5 net-snmp package.
I can get the following trace from tcpdump in the two distinct cases:
WINDOWS:
--------------
15:14:24.649262 IP 10.40.11.176.1145 > 10.40.11.24.snmp: GetRequest(29) .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0
15:14:24.649652 IP 10.40.11.24.snmp > 10.40.11.176.1145: GetResponse(30) .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0=0
LINUX:
--------
15:16:27.334554 IP 10.40.11.23.34462 > 10.40.11.24.snmp: GetRequest(27) .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0
15:16:27.334850 IP 10.40.11.24.snmp > 10.40.11.23.34462: GetResponse(28 ) .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0=0
As you can see, the reply bears the correct response, apparently, in both cases, but the linux gui does not convey the right result state.
I can also reproduce the same tcpdump output, getting the actual result, using the snmp utility snmpget like the following
# snmpget -v 1 -c public 10.40.11.24 .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0
that sufficiently further proves that the target linux agent is ok.
HINT: I suspect that some problem might lie in the database handling (mysql as default), that might not be able to hand over the data. Could that be my case?
Ive repeated the installation procedure several times, both using the free version of software and the time limited one, always getting the same results as described.
Thank you for any help,
Marco Masotti
