Account Details - Website URL length issue

In our intended deployment, we are going to register our various Branch Locations as "Accounts", and associate contacts with those "accounts". We have an internal monitoring solution for managing the WAN connectivity issues. We were going to specify the URL to this site-specific monitoring page in the "Website" field of the Account Details. We were going to do this because when we created a custom Account Field, we could not get the URL to the monitoring page to hyperlink. The "Website" field hyperlinks by default. It only allows for HTTP URLs and we need to specify an HTTPS address, but that's a separate issue.

There seems to be a maximum length problem we're running into with the "Website" field of the Account Details. Since we're not merely wanting to enter in some "www.companyname.com" URL, our site-specific address is being cut off. An example of what we're trying to enter in is below:

http://netmon/NetPerfMon/View.asp?View=NodeDetails&NetObject=N:82

The "Website" field cuts it of somewhere around "NodeDetails". I want to specify a hyperlinked value in each account and custom account fields don't allow me to link. I believe it would be best to remove the maximum length settings on the "Website" field.

Thoughts on how to provide a hyperlinked address tied to an account?
