Ability to scan offsite(offnetwork) systems

One of the reasons we bought SDPlus was the promise that we would be able to scan offsite(off network) machines. We have some 180+ sites we need to be able ti audit.

When will this be part of SD Plus?

To have to setup scanning through a VPN is tedious. Most of these system access web apps, and other resources and dont require VPN, but it would appear from all the posts I have seen we may need to install a VPN just to manage them.

Or do we need to purchase the full AssetExplorer to take adavantage of such features?

I remember seeing in another post;

"...Standalone workstation audit feature will be available in ServiceDesk Plus Q1 service pack release. " Dated Dec, 2007

It seems when I follow the post it implies that the user is connected via VPN though.

I know i'm not alone in this.
