A new interface each day for the PPPoE connection

A new interface each day for the PPPoE connection

Hi,

I'm using the free 10 interfaces version of NetFlow Analyzer to monitor my home network (Ubiquity Edgerouter Pro). The router will give 3 interfaces by default when I check it with SNMP (set to "IfNames"):

- eth0
- eth1
- pppoe0

Unfortunately my ISP does a forced reconnection every 24 hours (even with my business VDSL connection with a fixed IP) which I've forced into the night using a reconnection script.

With each reconnection the PPPoE interface got a new index, but it's keeping its name. However, NetFlow Analyzer seems to have a bug not recognizing the name in this case but adding the updated PPPoE interface as a new interface.

So, after the first night I see these interfaces:

- eth0
- eth1
- pppoe0 (dead)
- IfIndex 112

In the next night:
- eth0
- eth1
- pppoe0 (dead)
- IfIndex 112 (dead)
- IfIndex 113

... and so on.

How do i resolve this issue? NFA does not seem to stay with the interface name (which keeps the same) when the PPPoE reconnects, instead it adds a new interface with each reconnection.

So either the problem must be fixed to keep using the interface name (pppoe0) even if the index of the interface changes, or there must be some way to automatically purge dead interfaces (i.e. if an interface did not send any data for 10 minutes, one hour etc.).

Otherwise I need to login as admin day by day to delete the now dead interface, set the speed properties for "this day's pppoe interface index" and so on ... not doing this would let me run out of interfaces within one week.
