3 Monitoring Questions/Issues
Hi there,
Firstly, apologies for the length of this post! I'm running OpManager 7025 and have a three questions/issues which I'd appreciate some help with:
1. Is it possible to monitor Linux (net-snmp) machines for % free SWAP space? I've tried using "Swap Memory Size" (1.3.6.1.4.1.334.72.1.1.9.6.0) but the net-snmp machines aren't responding to this test - even still a % (or MB) free SWAP monitor would be much more useful.
2. I'm having a problem monitoring interfaces on Windows 2003 machines, the interfaces are being added to the inventory but are inaccurate. I pushed a large file from one machine to the other and monitored the interface statistics - the IN & OUT fields seem to be mixed up as the source machine showed a large increase in IN traffic and the receiving machine showed a large increase in OUT traffic - is this a known issue? The adaptor I'm monitoring is "Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client)".
3. I've created an email notification profile configured to alert on all issues & recoveries and have applied this to the whole server category. When an individual service (such as 22/tcp on one specific host) goes down & recovers I recieve two email alerts as expected. However, as a test I unplugged a monitored client from the network, the following Alarms were raised:
-- Attention Feb 19,2008 11:44:01 AM Device not responding: Probably down or busy
-- Trouble Feb 19,2008 11:53:39 AM Probable device failure: No response from device for last 3 polls
-- Critical Feb 19,2008 12:03:39 PM Device Down: No response from device for last 5 polls
-- Clear Feb 19,2008 12:13:21 PM Device Active and Responding
However, only the "Attention - Device not responding: Probably down or busy" email alert was generated, when I would have expected 3 more emails updating me on status change. Have I configured something incorrectly or is this a known issue?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks,
Alistair
