Recently noticed one of our 2003 Srv’s stopped responding to ELA. I’m thinking this is system specific, but thought I would run by support to see if there are any other known issues other than in documentation that I could be missing.
I upgraded to v6 which seems to have completed fine (thanks for the info BTW) and no change in status for this server. Verified DCOM and firewall rule as stated in trouble-shooting, all pass. From ELA Host to the problem server, I complete a net use to both C$ and ADMIN$ successfully.
The server is no different from the other servers that are communicating with the same account other than running BackupExec 12 + CPS addon. All obtain their settings from the same GPO.
If I disable the firewall on the problem server, ELA now pull info.
With the firewall enabled, I’ve tried the netsh commands to disable, then re-enable to just the ELA Host IP, then repeated, but allowed all. Disabled again and then went into gpedit.msc on problem system and manually edited the Admin. Templates | Network | Network Connections | Windows Firewall | Domain Profile | Allow remote administration Exception: Enabled without any change.
Verify logon simply runs for almost a min then fails with the 800706ba error.
I enabled the firewall log and noticed that some requests from the ELA host are still being dropped by the problem server. I don’t suppose there are any other points/settings I could look up? The only security change, that has affected all servers, that was put into place in the last few months was LAN Manager level: set to ‘Send NTLM response only’ which should allow for both NTLM and NTLMv2, since both host and client are Srv2003 this shouldn’t be a problem and, as stated, the other servers in the group are not having this issue.
Any idea’s would be appreciated.
