'Domain Scan' changes names of workstations
Hi,
I have a question regarding the 'Domain Scan' function.
I works like a charm having found almost all of our workstations in less than a week, but i have a, to me, very big issue with it which i hope can be solved.
I use the workstation name as a unique identifier for the various PC's, having given each a registration number as machine name (e.g. REGNR1, REGNR2..and so forth).
I'd like the workstation name to be the same as the registration number, so i manually changed the name of the workstation as they were discovered by SD+.
(doing this manually btw took quite some time as you might imagine - but couldn't find a more clever way of doing this :)
Heres my problem: Having finished with renaming all my workstations, i do another domain scan. After completing the domain scan, i realize that a bunch of my workstations now have the same name as before i renamed it - not all, but a lot.
Why is this? And can you exclude already discovered workstations from the domain scan?
I really don't like my work to be erased like this, and you would expect the system to be so clever as to not overwrite workstation names which servicetag or serial number already resides in the database.
Please advise asap.
