1703 update with Bitlocker enabled
I have been able to successfully get the package to install on a machine that is not bitlocker enabled but as soon as I attempt to run the package the installer says "Windows Setup cannot find a location to store temporary installation files. Make sure BitLocker Drive Encryption is suspended." I found the powershell command "Suspend-Bitlocker" but I have no idea how to run that command before the install starts through Desktop Central. I attempted to create a custom script but it also failed.
Windows 10 Fall Creators update (1709) undeployable because of dependencies
I followed the instructions: https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/windows10-feature-packs.html#language I renamed the iso to the german name: 104980-Win10_1709_Gex64.iso And I placed it into the patch store of desktop central. When deploying the patch/upgrade it fails to start because of missing dependencies (Win10_1709_enx64.iso). It does not "detect" the german iso file I have placed in patch store as descibed in you instruction....

Mac OS patch (601384) gets the machine rebooted without notification
The patch crawler team has found that upon patching Mac sierra machines, it is getting rebooted arbitrarily even when "No Reboot" deployment policy is selected. From analyze, the team has confirmed patch 601384 naturally invokes the reboot action without notifying the customer. It seems it is the behavior of this update upon reading various 3rd party forums. A message has been added in the product UI to convey the Mac Sierra reboot message so that customers can get benefited and plan their patching

Computers by Disk Usage report issue
I've noticed an issue with the Disk Space Report. It appears to round up all disks space in to the report to a single entry. Now although this data is correct it's kind of potless. Here is a device Computer Name - Total Capacity (GB) - Free Space (GB) - Free Space (%) servername - 537 - 92 - 17 When investigating this device I've found that one disk has no space at all. Metldown/Spectre patch not showing for half our machines.
I have a ticket open with Desktop Central on this but haven't gotten very far with them. Out of our 470 Desktops/Laptop, only about 250 of our Desktops/Laptops are showing that they are "missing" the Meltdown/Spectre Patch. All of our Laptops and Desktops are exactly the same hardware with the same AV versions. I checked to make sure the Patch was not installed on any machines which it isn't and we have Windows Patching disabled on all computers. I checked to see if the reg key below was on any of
Microsoft Patch Tuesday January 2018 updates
This month’s Microsoft Patch Tuesday security updates address 59 vulnerabilities, out of which 16 are critical threats and 20 can be leveraged by attackers for remote code execution. Microsoft has suspended updates for AMD processors after reports of Blue Screen of Death errors. Some antivirus programs also appear to be incompatible with these updates.
Move an installation from workgroup to Active Directory mode - possible/advisable?
We would like to deploy Desktop Central for a small setup, about 20/25 computers and a similar number of mobile devices. As we are moving to a domain environment but it is going to take a little longer, my question is: Could we install the product, start using it in a workgroup environment and modify the configuration later when the directory services are deployed?
iOS Manually Enroll without a Domain
I want manual/self enrollment to work for iOS devices without needing a domain name. It did not use to ask for this. We don't have a domain set up here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
How do I find out what patch forced a reboot?
Hello, I have automated patch management enabled in Desktop Central and until now it was doing a great job. It installed a patch on my PC and forcefully rebooted it without giving me any options. I have the Do Not Reboot flag checked in the deployment policy. Any idea on where I can start looking to see what patch forced the reboot so i can disable it? Thanks Anthony
Detailed versions of Windows 10 - 1703...1709 etc
Now the need is increasing that when listing computers by OS, that you specify the version, in terms of the naming system of Microsoft: 1703, 1709 and so on. Also, it would be nice to get a graph of the number of computer with each version of windows 10. Today, it seems that Desktop Central only shows the OS build numbers, and this is a bit cryptic.
Searching partial monitor serial numbers.
We currently have Desktop Central and Service Desk Plus, I am looking for some monitors, and would like to know how do we search for serial numbers of monitors connected to workstations. ALSO, I noticed that the serial number that shows on most of our Dell monitors are not close to what is written on the back. I guess the question is, how do we find the Dell service number or Express service code of the monitors in Desktop central also. Thank you

It doesn't look like MS has released the Meltdown patch yet. I'm wondering once its released how quickly ManageEngine will turn it around and if they'll send out a special notification that the patch is available?

I would like to view/edit/add notes to the Summery information
Right now we are using desktop central to keep an inventory of our hardware, the issue that we have is we need info on the monitors, that DC does not pull correctly. so we are adding notes to the computers with the Dell monitor serial numbers (they use express service codes). With that being said, this is our issue. We can add notes, but they are really not viable easily. Attached are an example. I would like when we look at all the info in the computer (example 1) that this info that is in the
MSP Integration with Zendesk AND Service Desk + when dealing with multiple customers
So this is a weird question. We use Desktop Central MSP and Service Desk + MSP. My boss saw that Zendesk can utilize Manage Engine via integration. We are not interested changing to Zendesk, rather we have a client who is in our Desktop Central MSP but uses Zendesk for their ticketing system. The problem is we have many customers who are in our Desktop Central MSP (say, client 1, client 2, client 3, client 4) and we are in the process of merging everything with Service Desk + MSP. But my boss wants

Limited Software Deployments
What is the best way to group computers for software deployment? I want to install Slack on all systems except servers. I have the package built but the only selection for deployment is the entire domain or the entire remote office. Thank you,
Apache updates on Desktop Central Distribution servers to remediate vulnerabilities
Do you need to rebuild the Distribution Servers, after you upgrade Desktop Central to a new version? I would hope that it would replicate down like SCCM. We are noticing some Apache vulnerabilities showing up on our scans, but they are only showing on the Distribution servers. Do they use an older version of Apache than the primary, and can we update them? We are using MSSQL on Server 2012 R2.
Software uninstall
I have been able to successfully uninstall a piece of software on an individual client bases but this software is also on all other computers in our company. Since I know the uninstall works successfully I would like to know if I uninstall all at the same time does it queue the uninstall for a machine that is currently not connected to the network? I am not using the configurations to uninstall the software but just the uninstall "trash can" located under Inventory > Software.
Deep Freeze?
Is anyone in the community using Deep Freeze? About 2/3 of our computers are using Deep Freeze and I would like to have a script using the command line options to unfreeze a computer before a patch is applied and then re-freeze the computer after the patch is applied. I know where to add a configuration script, but was hoping someone already had one available. Thanks!
Report for specific local user
Hi, I'm trying to find a report on finding all systems with a specific local user setup on it. I'm sure it already exists but I can't find it? Does anyone know if it already exists and if not how i could run it?
Work Profile and Free Edition
Our trial version has recently expired, and since that, the "Work Profile" (and its apps) has suddenly disappeared from all our devices (it was present before, see screenshot). However, the devices still show as "corporate" in the console. Is there any limitation of the free edition regarding to that or is it a bug?
Desktop Central should allow us to use different server IP address for different Remote office
Hi, currently, If we change the Desktop Central server IP in one of the remote offices it updates the IP in all rest remote offices. Our Desktop Central infrastructure runs in a NATed Network environment and our Desktop central IP is Nat-ed to different IPs in different Subnets. So we have to use different Server IP for each Remote office where our DesktopCentral Server IP is Nat-ed. Please fix the issue. So that we can save server details for each remote office separately.
Computer Policies no longer dynamic - v143 MSP
Our computer configurations no longer apply to new comupters. This is since we upgrade our MSP version to 143. We have several computer configurations which are collections and individual type that apply to our domain. New added computers (installed agent on PC) are added to the console and user policies do apply - however, the computer configurations are not adding or applying to the new computers. Another way to explain it - since v143, its like the domain group is no longer dynamic where computer
Is there a way to configure DC to use WSUS as its source for MS updates?
We have our WSUS servers nicely "tuned" thanks to AdamJ ("Overdrive")'s phenomenal "Clean-WSUS" Powershell script, so superseded updates are purged *daily*. Here's more info, and the script, here: https://community.spiceworks.com/scripts/show/2998-adamj-clean-wsus I'm seeing DC attempting to push already-superseded updates, frequently irritating end-users with needless reboots. https://pitstop.manageengine.com/portal/community/topic/is-anyone-using-me-dc-to-patch-their-windows-servers NOTE: Abraham
Office 2010 customized package
I have a custom install of Office 2010 that I built using the Microsoft Office Customization Tool. I uploaded the Office 2010 folder and added this switch: setup.exe /adminfile \\server\share\Office2010\Updates\setup.msp It continues to give me an error saying that the file could not be located. Does anyone know what I might be missing? Darren
Pre-Installed Keeper Password Manager on Windows 10 exposes systems to passwords stealing
Problem: There's a good reason why security analysts get nervous about bundled third-party software: it can introduce vulnerabilities that the companies can't control. Google researcher Tavis Ormandy discovered that a Windows 10 image came bundled with a third-party password manager, Keeper, which came with a glaring browser plugin flaw -- a malicious website could steal passwords. Solution: It is recommended to disable Content Delivery Manager (for PreInstalledApps enabled) using Desktop Central's
Windows 10 1607 Update
Hello Our Windows 10 machines currently running 1151 build are not receiving the Anniversary edition update from Desktop Central. If we remove a machine from Desktop central, the update is downloaded. Machines with the desktop central agent do not receive the update, even though our scans are set to download all updates at all levels and deploy. Do you support this? Microsoft released this over 2 months ago. Thanks Chris
Credentials used
Hi, I'm having a problem where an account that has had its password changed is being locked out. It appears to be being locked out by our server that has both servicedesk and desktop central running on it. I can only think that maybe this user account was provided to either of these tools at some point either for scanning or patching or emailing or something!! Is there anything that can be run for me to be able see all the credentials stored for both products so I can work out where I need to update
Automatically install new builds?
I like the fact that ManageEngine is regularly rolling out updates to DesktopCentral. The downside is that it takes precious time to manually download/install each new build. Is there any way to set it up so that DesktopCentral will automatically download new builds and automatically update itself?
