Moving Desktop Central to another Server
Hi, I'm looking to move desktop central to another server. Can anyone tell me whats involved in doing this? Do I need to reinstall a fresh copy on the new server. What files and directories need to be backed up. How can I get the clients to point to the new sever? Any help is appreciated. regards Dave Gibbons
Service Pack 2 install
I am installing Service Pack 2 with no luck. I open UpdateManager and select the downloaded Service Pack and click Install. The installation seem to finish but on starting Desktop Central, the service pack has not been applied. I started UpdateManager again and the ServicePack was not listed as installed, so I tried installing it again with the same result. Am I doing something wrong ??? Gary C

Hi all, Im currently evaluating Desktop Central. When i tried to patch 10 computers it keeps on restarting afterwards. Has anyone experienced the same problem? What may have caused it? and how do i avoid it? Thanks!

Hello, I am wondering if I really did install the Agents on client PCs. I installed MED on a Domain server running Win2003 R2. I am testing with 5 client PCs on the domain running WinXP Pro. I had enabled COM on all PCs (as per your instructions) and was able to install the agents according to SoM. However, even though I can see the client PCs and their specs, I cannot see any changes being made. Install Software Status
Hi When I create a "Install Software Configuration" the Status always shows "Not available" regarless of whether the configuration deployed successfully or not. Is this a problem with our install? I can't imagine that there is no feedback on the deploy status. We need to know if the install completed. any help would be appreciated. Chris Jensen
Errors when installing the desktop client
I am trying to push the client out to pcs 1 OU at a time, but at least 50% of all machines are reporting back with one of the following messages:- - Agent installation failed due to Remote m/c DJK512J is down - Retrieving SystemDirectory from WMI data is failed I used to have the same type of problem when I used ServiceDesk in my previous job and was trying to scan assets. (very annoying)

tool for remote assistance outside the network?
Hi, Wonder if Desktop Central can be used to offer our customers assistance by taking over their desktop. In other words, when their PC is not in the same domain. We have customers across the country, and often need to help them with configuring e-mail clients, controlpanels, etc... Another question is if this works without altering anything to the firewall the customer has. Almost everytime we come across a case where we need to install remote access software, we need to tamper with firewalls....

HI, I would like to install the desktop client only on one computer for testing. i basically have a domain consisting of about 285 computers. i would first like to have a detailed test of theis product by installing it only on one computer. when i gave the user name as admin and the password it asked for the client installation on all the pc's in the domain. can any body help me as quickly as possible?
Removing PC's from Scope of management

Cannot start Desktop Central
Everytime I start Desktop Central the progress would reach about 90% and then stop there and the app would not start. I try a couple of installation and on different machines, still same issue. Please advise.

Desktop Central issues
We are evaluating this product and it looks very promising but so far two things have prevented us from purchasing. Remote Desktop does not work. Out of 6 attempts only one worked and then only partially since I couldn't see the Start button or taskbar. Trying to push a Power Configuration only partially works. It pushes the configuration name but not the actual configuration itself. If we could get some help on these two issues it would go a long way towards a successful eval and eventual purchase.

Proxy Server Settings without using a User name.
Is there a way to set the proxy server settings without adding a user name and password? My network does not require authentication to go out the proxy server and when one is added, the connection fails.

Installing Agent
Hello, I am having some problems getting the client side agent pushed out to a computer. I setup a test OU and moved a test pc into it. Then i configured the scope management to that OU with a Domain Admin account access. Loged on and off the pc a few times, i even tried rebooting and it never installed. As an admin on a large WAN, I am looking for a utility that will find all of my printers. Status and possibly error messages would be nice, but for now I just need the IP of the printer found. It should then be exportable to an editable format for reports. I see a ton of functions that your line of software does. I am amazed at most of it and Im sure my company can benefit from it. But for right now.. I really need printer management software. Does DC do this? or do you have any other programs that

Problem with SSL
I installed the trial of DS on one of my servers and it works locally, but I cannot access it from any other computer (on the local network).
