Windows XP SP3 Deployment
I'm trying to deploy SP3 to a XP workstation ( attached to a piece of machinary with custom software so can't upgrade ) but struggling to find how to push SP3 to it. There are manageengine guides about it but I can't find any option on DTC - running build 92113 https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/help/computer_configuration/installing_windows_service_packs.html Thanks Andy
missing patch?
I'm having trouble understanding why a certain patch isn't applicable. I can see MS17-010 in the patch database. However, when I look at its list of affected OS's its different than what is shown on MS: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms17-010?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 Is there any reason for the different information between your system and the actual security bulletin? At this point I have no idea if my systems are covered or not.
Search box not working for computer names
Hi, It appears after updating to the latest build 10.0.82 that the search box in the top corner isnt working for machine names. If I try and search for a computer name it doesn't present anything. If I search for an ip address it presents a list of computers by IPs! Can this be investigated please? Eddy
Support of Office 2016, Windows 10
Hello @all, as far as I can see Windows 10 is already supported by Patch Management - is that correct or are there still limitations? When will Office 2016 (for Windows) be supported? I cannot see or filter for Office 2016 Patches. Kind Regards Stefan
Remote control random disconnection
I'm using Windows 10, IE 11 (11.953.14393.0). When using HTML 5 (which is awesome!) Remote Control the remote session disconnects after what seems to be a random amount of time. The remote window gives "Connection Error: Web Socket Communication failure. Error: This connection was established under an authenticated HTTP session that has ended. - 1005" When I return to the DC window to reconnect and I click on an option, I get returned to the login screen. After logging back in I can resume the remote
Excluded Computers from SOM
I have had several random computers re-added to the SOM after being explicitly excluded, some more than once. Is there any reason or setting I might be overlooking that would ignore the SOM exclude list and re-install the agent on a computer? Thanks Rob
Configuration to delete folders leftover from Windows Updates
I'm trying to reclaim disk space used by Windows. I know how to create a configuration to delete files within folders if the folder name is static. With Windows Updates, the .msu file creates folders with random-looking names that hang around afterwards. - examples: c:\0a423668f8ff7dde393873, c:\1bfd9a1fd85b1ae9fafd121a c:\078b3033bc67f41db8e6b0dc9bb08a74 Assuming it is safe to delete the folders, is there a way to filter for them and have them included in a folder cleanup config
DC server won't start after upgrade
Just upgraded DC server from 10.0.0.70 to 10.0.0.83 and now the service process won't start. The logs seem to indicate some sort of failure during the upgrade process. It is not possible to uninstall the patch thru the update.bat utility.

Webserver port chnaged?
Hi During the latest update to build 10.0.82 the upgrade went fine, however desktop central will no longer start up. I've noticed that this is due to the web console is now looking at port 10 for http and https which is incorrect. I've checked the websetting.conf and the http and https setting in there are the correct settings so wondering where is it getting the settings to say use port 10?
How to order configurations?
I am using DesktopCentral for almost two years now, but what I couldn't achieve was to deploy several configurations and expect them to be applied "chronologically". What I did: 1. Config, SW install to all machines - save + deploy via scheduler to next day, 01 am 2. Config, SW install to half of the machines - save + deploy via scheduler to next day, 02 am 3. Why are many important/critical Windows patches automatically listed as Not Approved?
Hi, I'm not exactly new to ME but I never really got training on it. I just came onto a job that had it and I've been learning to use it by myself for the last year or so. I am a little confused about a few things, in particular, how patches are chosen to be approved or not approved. For example here, I went to All Patches and sorted by approval status and I see that a lot of critical patches are listed as not approved. Why is that? Wouldn't any and all critical patches be approved? I obviously don't

o365 deployment problems
I'm referencing this page to try and install o365 remotely https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/deploy-ms-office-2016-how-to.html However, the extract contents of .exe step doesn't actually grab install files, it extracts a small downloader instead. Are there any updated instructions on how to do this?
Firewall and AV Status
I really like being able to see the Firewall and Anti Virus status from Inventory that came with 10.0.72. Is there a way to get a report though or even a filter view ? I'm just about to replace our AV (all through DC of course) which means Windows FW is going to have to be re-enabled. Unable to Push package on remote location.

Hello, We use the Desktop Central icon in the system tray to create helpdesk tickets in ServiceDesk. We would like the Subject field filled out every time a customer puts in a ticket. The issue is the default setting is Enter Subject Here. The customer rarely fills this out and we end of getting a bunch of tickets with this subject line. Is there any way we can make the Subject field mandatory to be filled out before a ticket can be submitted? Thanks, Frank

Is there a way to see when a piece of software was uninstalled from a computer?
A piece of software went "missing" from a user's computer and I am trying to figure out when it happened. The History tab on the "Computer Detail" Inventory screen only shows one day of history. Is there a way to see more days of history? Or, is there somewhere else I can look?

Distrubtion server replication times
When does the patches downloaded to the central server get replicated to distribution servers? Let's say i have an APD at 4:00pm and thee deployment window is 7:00pm to 10:00am when would the patches be replicated to the distribution server? We want to minimize the bandwidth between where our central server and the distribution servers are during the day and would like it to sync all patches to the distribution servers after 6:00pm. Desktop Central 10.0.70 Devices fail to scan through Mobile Device Mgmt
Ever since we updated to 10.0.70 we've had numerous issues but the most glaring one is the fact that our mobile devices now fail to scan on an almost daily basis. If I reboot the DC server and the forwarding server in our DMZ and then run a manual scan it seems to work just fine. I have to do this only an almost daily basis in order to keep tabs on our devices.

Folder Operation Adds "/" to end of path resulting in errors

Agent Status Down
I have pushed agent installation task from the DC admin console & it is failed. as DC admin we used normal domain account. After that i have added that account to the target machine (agent install machine) administrator group. then installation was successful.
Current DesktopCentral package
When I went to install on my desktop this morning - the package completed successfully - but there was no evidence of Spotify anywhere on the desktop. No icons. patch approval settings
Good morning, I have an issue with the approval settings. As you can see in the screenshot, there is shown one "Not Approved" patch. But there is no patch to approve. A few days before, there where some problems to install some patches. After updating the Vulnerability DB, some patches disapeared and this issue descibed before happend. Windows Updates in Windows 10 Machines
Hello: I have applied the "Disable Windows Updates" .vbs script from Manage Engine to users within our domain. The system is reporting that is was successfully applied however users are still getting updates and the systems restarting. Any suggestions? I did open a ticket and submit the log files. 10.0.82 SOM installed status shown in red
I had an issue with an agent upgrading to 10.0.82 the update failed on the client I could not re push the agent. I had to completely delete the manage engine folder then manually download the agent and run the setup.bat file to be able to install the agent again. After this everything was working fine except that in the SOM where it says installed successfully is listed in red not black. see attached screen shot.
Completely disable Windows 10 Update

Remote control freeze's up
When connected to another PC, and trying to disconnect it freezes up and it locks up any open IE window on my PC. Only thing i can do is to use Task Manager to kill the IE session and even that sometimes doesn't work. So I have to restart my PC. This sometimes happens 2-3 times a day. This has started to happen in last 2 months only.
verifying agent is running and checked in.
We are setting up DTC to be deployed on our golden image so that when a new VM is cloned it already has the agent installed on it and once renamed the agent comes on and registers it self. My question is this. Is there a event ID or log created that the engineer building the new build has that confirms the DTC agent has spun up and checked into DTC correctly with out logging into the DTC GUI and checking SOM. We dont want the individuals building these VMs to have access to DTC it self. Make sense?
Auto assign owner for workstation
If the option "Auto assign owner for workstation (This is applicable only for Windows OS):" is set to "Assign the user who has logged in recently " is there any way to make an exception for machines that are "shared"? While for ~95% of our machines this would result in correct assignment, we have a handfull of machines that have many users that could log in, and i can't see a way to make that exception.
Symantec Endpoint Protection - warnings and exceptions
Desktop central flagged a warning saying check the SEP exceptions have been added, so I checked the exceptions and added every desktop central folder and .exe/.dll as per the knowledge base document. The agent troubleshooter still shows a warning against AV and links back to the exceptions knowledge base. I have double checked the exceptions all folders and .exe excluded from scans and realtime protection, but still get warnings about AV. So firstly does the troubleshooter just show the warning
password last set date
I need to retrieve the last date a password was set for accounts on a PC. Is this possible with DC? Is there a script I can run that will obtain the information per PC and DC can pick up the results as part of its inventory process? Thanks, Mike Gerst

I have a script that runs on every server and spits out a file with data. What I am trying to is have DTC move all of these files to a central file repository on a file share. I keep running into errors and i was curious what would be the correct way to get that configured.
