Disable Windows Recommended Updates
I'd like to continue getting Windows Updates, but not the "Recommended Updates" that include device drivers. I may have missed it, but I cant seem to find a config or discussion about it. Anyone else have this setup or know where I might start to getting this configured?

Hi FYI, since the DC agent was updated to 9.2.071.W, several antivirus tools such as BitDefender, F-Secure, GData, eScan etc. flag dcappcontrol.exe as Adware.Crossrider. There were no problems with agent 9.2.058.W. Regards Stefan

Random/temporary SW install errors
Hi, I am using DTC for one year by now. I see some errors during software deployment which "do not make sence" - or I cannot understand why they happen: Errors like: Error occurred while fetching the package path url Unknown Error. Delay in Patch DB sync
Hi, on thuesday I deployed all available, new/missing MS Updates to our Win7 client testgroup. Before deploying the patches, I manuall ran the "Sync Patch DB" task. Then I re-scanned my clients and re-generated the patch summary, to give me an up-to-date status. After this I chose all new, missing patches, which were only few and mostly for Office. Remote Office DS Disabled?
I had installed the Free version of Desktop Central (Build No:92001) few months ago. I had setup a remote office Distribution Server. Everything worked fine. Now when I go into the SoM - Remote Offices I see a red dot against it. When I edit this entry I see the following: "Distribution Server Available in Enterprise Edition" "You require an Enterprise Edition License to use this feature. Security Update MS16-077 (WPAD) missing from DC?
Good Evening, I've come across something strange. After running Nessus on our workstations recently, we found none of them had the MS16-077 Security Update installed on them. I thought this was strange since virtually all our computers showed as Healthy with no missing patches in DC. So I tried searching for the patch in DC but it wasn't there. I found if I loaded the update manually on computers, DC does recognize the patch and it shows as approved (see below). Yet it does not indicate it is
Migrate DC to PGSQL
I am running the free version of DC 9 that has ended support for MySQL and want to migrate to PGSQL. I have read the KB article but it does not really tell me all i need to know. I figure I have to manually install PGSQL. My server is Win2003 32-bit. Once I install PGSQL and down DC and run the migrateDBtoPostgres.bat file, how will DC now know to use PGSQL as it's DB? Does the migrate batch file also set the correct db in the DC configs? Edit: also then how do I stop the old MySQL instance? Please
Latest update changed the color theme, can't distinguish colors on charts (color blind)
Sounds like a silly problem BUT I can no longer distinguish some of the charts and graphs with the latest color scheme. Is there a way to change the color theme or is there a "color blind" setting? Best example is the "Disk Usage" Chart in Inventory.
License report shows all licenses in a group on each machine, not the one associated to it.
I've been asked to make a simple custom report where you put in the computer(s) you want to report on and it would show the software name, license name, key, and expiration dates for each license the computer has. I have this working pretty well right now except that if any license is a part of a group with multiple licenses (say Adobe Pro individual licenses for certain machines), the report will show every single license in that group as applying to the chosen computer. To give a better example.
Windows Updates: Deploy optional Updates
Is it possible to also deploy optional updates on Windows Systems. When we manual start the internal Windows Update we get some optional and not security related updates. Can we also deploy these updates through DC?

Change Remote Site from Direct Communication to Point to DS
Hi We have a remote site (15 PC's) which is setup for direct communication to the DTC server. We also have another remote site which has a DS onsite. I want to change the first remote site so that it points to the second remote site (with DS) because of bandwidth issues. I've tried to make the change in both IE and Chrome but the settings are not saved \ modified. Is this something that I should be able to do. If it should work would I need to push the agent out again or will the new settings

Reduce Firewall Ports to TCP 443
Do you plan to reduce the needed ports? We have some Enterprise customers which have large networks and it is very difficult to get firewall exceptions for all these ports? It would be great to work only over HTTPS so there is no need to open new ports.

How to request certain software be patched?
Hello, is there a process I can go through to request that certain software receive patch support? There is actually one in specific and for patching on a Mac - Adobe Creative Cloud. Currently we are still having to manually connect with half a dozen users every few weeks or so to update all their creative cloud software. I know Adobe has something we can set up but it would be better to keep everything central. Thank you, Charles
A report on software similar to Computers by OS?
Is there a way to generate a graph/report for software similar to the Graph this is on the Home>Summary page Computers by OS? On this graph it is able to group all Win 7/Win 8/ Server etc into one graph and regardless of Patch level. Specifically I am trying to find a way to generate a specific report for the different versions of Microsoft Office. dcagenttrayicon dissapers from the taskbar even when the service is still running. You can get it back by logging off or restarting but it it happens too often and I feel that it needs to be addressed. This is a problem on all Windows 10 machines and some Windows 7 machines. Is there a quick work-around to for a non-admin to get their icon back? Thank you!
Advice with using Desktopcentral for Patch Management
Hi, We recently had an external audit of the machines on our network for security vulnerabilities and they found that there was a couple of updates missing on our machines, MS KB3125869 & MS KB3116180 which are covered under the MS15-124: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer update. When we ran the patch scan on Desktopcentral and it didn't pick up this vulnerability. Can anyone suggest the best way we can use Desktopcentral to ensure that these types of vulnerabilities aren't missed
Cant get system management (processes) on remote office PC's
I can click "manage" on PC's in the LAN (relative to the DC-server) and the local PCs will show processes, but when I connect to a remote PC it says unavailable every time. "Your System Manager session has been disconnected because the agent is not reachable" 1/ Am I missing a setting for managing this remote PC? 2/ Where can I see the Ping distance (as measured in ms) for diagnostic purposes I can remote-access the remote PC using the HTML5 viewer... What's happening with iTunes patch support?
It would appear that you guys have not released a patch for iTunes since October 2015. I have just spoken to one of your support techs, today, who said it is a known issue because Apple changed the download link from HTTP to HTTPS. I pointed out that a similar download issue with Java, just a couple of months ago, was fixed within days. However, the iTunes issue hasn't been fixed for six months, so far. Can we please get some better commitment from the DC team, on a fix date, for this please?
Clients are not automaticly selected (as target) in the configuration (Patch management) after upgrade to V 92063
Hi, I have a small problem after the upgrade from version 92041 to 92063 (DesktopCentral). When I select a patch in the patch Management and click "install" the "Install/Uninstall Windows Patch" window appears. In the old version all names of the selected clients appear in the section "Define Target". But after the upgrade this field is empty. Delay in new Mac patches?
Is there a reason why a couple of Mac 3rd party patches are missing? Mozilla Firefox 44.0.2 is missing, so is MS Office 2016 15.19.1 updates.
Uninstalling Office 2010 with Desktop Central
We have an issue upgrading from Office 2013 to Office 2016 through office365 when there is remnants of office2010 left on the a windows 7 PC. We have tried multiple ways of pushing the fixit program to a PC and then creating a bat file to execute on the PC and we have had no success. Has anyone else out there been successful at this and would like to share what they did to make this work?
Broken Remote Control
Hi - I'm having an issue with Remote Control breaking after a uncertain period of time and needing to reboot the server to be able to use Remote Control again.
