Configuration filtering based on AD organization unit
Good morning, we have an installation of Desktop Central MSP (build 10.0.347) and we cannot find the option to apply a configuration (or a patch) to a specific organization unit (the option is missing from the dropdown menu). Our remote sites are managed through a distribution server. I have attached a screenshot for reference. Thank you Kind regards, Luca Peduto
Accessing the portal from anywhere?
Hi, I recently downloaded the trial of desktop central and everything has been working wonderful. Is there a way to access the administrator portal when i'm off the LAN? Right now, the only way I can access the portal is by logging into the localhost:8020. I want to be able to access this from anywhere and be able to remote control desktops in my environment from any location with internet access. Thanks.

Coming over from Quest KACE - Assigning Devices from AD import
Hi, we are looking at ManageEngine to replace our Quest KACE Appliance primariyl for asset management but im already running into an issue. In KACE, we can manually assign devices to users, and that list is populated from our AD User import. In Desktop Central, I can only see how to assign a device to a user by manually typing into the "Owner" field. Is it possible to manually assign users from a dropdown with info fed from AD imports?
Differences between Desktop Central and Desktop Central MSP
Hi, What is the main difference between Desktop Central and Desktop Central MSP? Is there any differences in functionality? Thanks.
An Important fix for Credential usage in Configuration & OS Deployment is now available
Is there a written release on this fix? This banner is all over my Desktop Central. What's the issue and what is it fixing? I need to put in a request in order to justify the upgrade.

Java patch download failure "The request is forbidden.Http Status Code :: 403"
Hi, I am having a Java patch download failure, with the above error being logged in the "Action Log Viewer". There is a linked KB article that takes you here: https://www.manageengine.com.au/products/desktop-central/patch-download-failure-error-403.html?dci&did=45-1224-2018-01-22-12-50-41-8833 This article is about how you should have access to a list of common patch download sites set as accessible in whatever proxy you are using. However, when I go to the DC patch link: javascript:dcOpenWindow('patchinfopatchdetails.do?actionToCall=patchDetailsDO&patchDetails=true&PATCHID=307814'
Patch Download speed/time limiting
Morning, I've been trying to implement the patch management feature of Desktop Central. However, I've been running into a problem: we're on a very limited internet connection, and when it tries to download patches it entirely maxes out the connection and the other staff can't work. Is there any way to limit the download speed, set it to only download out of hours, or both? I haven't been able to find it. For now I'm turning the VM it is running on off each day, and turning it back on at the end of
Multiple Updates being pushed, not installing (KB4493448, KB4493472 32b, KB4493472 64b)
We have 3 updates this month that have been replicated to all the distribution servers. From there, so far, from all the machines I have looked at, have been pushed from the distribution server to the computers. Two of the three haven't installed. One tried to install and has failed on 11 machines. The most common failures on this one update listed are: Patch Deployment failed, Distribution Server is not reachable. Deployment will be retried during the next refresh interval The connection with the
Script arguments removed from all scripts updating from 10.0.346 to 10.0.366
FYI This affected my office installs that included pre-deployment scripts that removed previous versions of office.. https://pitstop.manageengine.com/portal/community/topic/uninstall-office-2010-and-reinstall-office-365-on-a-network-using-desktop-central manually re-added my arguments in both repository and software packages. didn't have many scripts with arguments so this was remedied easily enough.
Problem " 8020 8027 8443 Ports are in use. Hence could not start "forwarding server".
Hello, I've had a problem during desktop central forwarding set-up. After certificates have been installed an error occured, that said " 8020 8027 8443 Ports are in use. Hence could not start "forwarding server". I can't finish the set-up process due to this error. I've been following the instructions. Could you give me an advice on this issue?
End of Public Updates for Java SE 8 - Commercial Users upgrade your package
Oracle has announced changes to ongoing support for Java SE 8 (Standard Edition). This forum describes how Desktop Central will continue its support for Java SE 8 in January 2019 and beyond. Disk usage display for Linux
At the moment the disk usage pie chart displayed for Linux hosts isn't very useful if you're using LVM, as it just displays 100% used of an aggregate of all the devices - e.g. I have a new, unused desktop that has 1TB / 8TB /data 256Gb /scratch and the inventory page will display 9.3 TB at 100% usage. A useful output would to instead list the output of "df -h" excluding items matching udev, tempfs, /dev/loop - so for me this would be /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root 915G
Can i please get an update on opened tickets #5313391 and #5311198
It's been a week and i've received no inital response from anyone.
Linux agent - README file
Hi, when you unpack the Linux agent installer there's a LINUX_README.html file, but if you're working via a terminal this is very difficult to read. I think it would be an improvement if the readme was a simple text file, so that you didn't need a graphical interface to view it. Thanks!
Imported wrong certificate, cannot log into console.
I was trying to import a third party certificate using my Windows CA Server. By accident I imported a user certificate and now I cannot log into to the console not matter what I try. I've tried all browsers and I get a certificate mismatch err and it does not allow me to proceed. I opened a ticket yesterday morning (653009) but support has not been able to come up with a solution. I would think that all we need to do it remove the certificate so I assume this would need to be done from command line
Issue in booting up the machines after installing Windows updates.

However, these updates can be viewed and uninstalled from the 'Installed Patches' view. Update 1: To make
Desktop Central OS Deployment - Incorrect username/password after update

System Health Report Filtered by Dynamic Custom Group
I have a dynamic custom group of servers that I use to do automated patch deployment with. I need to be able to schedule a system health report to send to my manager to report on our patching status to executives. When I go to create a System Health Report and add a Custom Group filter, only the static Custom Groups are available. Is there anyway to do this with our Dynamic Custom Groups?
Old configuration being reapplied automatically
Hello, Lets say that I have a computer name PCA to which I have pushed a configuration (software deployment). This pc is a VM and I have taken a snapshot of it just after I installed the desktop central agent. I decide to revert to my snapshot. Then when the pc is available, desktop central seems to push back the configuration i pushed earlier automatically. Is this normal behavior ? Thanks. Marco
Add Custom Fields/Edit Existing Fields to Hardware
Some hardware needs to be tracked by serial number which is not being detected with the scan. Would like to be able to manually add that information if needed. For example on a graphics adapter. Using build 10.0.329 and do not see this function available.

Custom report for Bitlocker Encryption status?

End of Support for MAC OS 10.6 - Snow Leapord
Hi Everyone, As you might all know Apple has stopped supporting MAC OS 10.6 - Snow Leapord by 2014 itself and did not provide any security patches after that. However, we still continued supporting them from Desktop Central till date to make use of other functionalities apart from patch. We started working on a Agent revamp with New technology in place of all agents and to support this new technology on MAC OS 10.6 - Snow Leapord we are having failures on them. So, we decided to stop supporting
Disable/postpone agent upgrade?
I'm looking at drafting a rollback policy for the event that a desktop central server version upgrade goes wrong (this has never happened, but I like to be paranoid) A potential problem is that as soon as the server is upgraded, it will automatically start upgrading agent versions (I have had a problem in the past where there was a bug in the agent upgrade process - support gave me a fix right away so it wasn't a big deal, but I did need to deploy it via other means) and I am concerned that if I
Security hole! domain password made public!
Hi, We found Security Vulnerabilities Desktop Central version 10.0.328 stores the password in clear text on Mobile Device Managment page. See attached picture. Please fix this as fast as possible.
Image Replication Failing
Hi All, I'm trying to get the remote site image replication working on our environment. I have the shared folder configured on the remote Windows 2012 R2 server that has the OD deployment components installed, but each time I try and run the image replication it comes up the the following error: Unable to replicate image to remote office - 404 - Not Found : The requested page could not be found When it initially tries to start the replication, it puts a file (ImageName.osdi) in the destination folder
Critical bug fixes in Google Chrome 74.0.3729.108

Patch Management for Closed Network Not working in latest release 10.0.386
Hi, I think there is a bug in latest release 10.0.386 where Patch Management for Closed Network procedure is not working, I can update the database on internet but when transferring the updatedb folder to the closed network the update returns failed.
Group automated deployments
Currently, I am in the process of catching the machines up on updates. Since i've took over this position, it's been a very slow process. Due to a majority of our sites having very low bandwidth, we've opted to switch to manual pushes instead of automatic deployments. Mainly due to the fact that automated deployments grab all approved patches and push them all at once. What i want to do is create groups of deployments for patches, IE: Monthly security updates, Office updates, etc. Reasoning behind
OS Deployment Licensing
I inherited Desktop Central and was wondering how OS Deployment licensing worked. I see I have the following licensed: OS Deployment - Add on Number of Server Machines : 1 Deployed Server Machines : 0 Number of Workstation Machines : 4 Deployed Workstation Machines : 0 Does that mean I can deploy only one Server and one Workstation or does it mean I can only deploy one server and 4 workstations at a time? Looking to better automate and standardize our workstation deployments for

When I try to scan one i get a message saying warranty details cannot be fetched because either the website is currently unavailable or the computer is not connected to the internet. kindly try after sometime. I know for a fact that the computer is connected to the internet. Is there an issue with the site used to get this data?
Secure Gateway Download Requires a Version of Desktop Central Not available
Not sure if I'm missing something but we've had a problem with not being able to patch Roaming computers (over the internet) ever since we moved to the Forward Server, which I now believe is called Secure Gateway. After trying to spend some time troubleshooting the issue I decided to download the latest version of Security Gateway and reinstall it on the server dedicated to it in our DMZ. The latest version to download says it requires Desktop Central Version 10.0.391 and above (https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/forwarding-server-download.html)
Setting up Distribution Server supposed to bypass replication policy?
We've been having bandwidth issues with some offices. So it was decided that we were moving all of our replication policies to an overnight set of hours (midnight to 5am) and lowering the bandwidth. I had to set up another DS this afternoon, and i noticed it's been replicating since. This is out side of the replication policy by a lot. When setting up a new distributions server, is it supposed to override the replication policy? Or is there some sort of glitch here? I've also noticed throughout
Desktop Cental - Duplicated Computers
We've got computers in Desktop Central that are duplicated. When we've re-imaged the machine we've changed the computer name, which I guess is what's led to the duplication. Is there anyway to identify all of the duplicated service tag codes and then remove the ones that haven't recently connected. Also, on the subject is there any way to prevent the duplications, or is it just a manual task of removing them.
Superseded patches still listed as missing after Desktop Central upgrade
We recently upgraded to version 10.0.347. Mainly due to a lot of bugs. However, we're still seeing updates that were superseded months ago listed in our missing patches list. Right now it's down to one last patch, 106372 MSWU-3134 2019-01 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2 for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64 (KB4481031) This was superseded in Feb by MS19-FEB8. Granted it's only missing on 1 machine, but since it's been superseded for so long, it still counts against
Display real name of users + search for usernames
At the moment, desktop central refers to users via the windows/active directory user name (e.g. "jsmith") - this is shown in places like the "logged on users" column and in the "logged on user" field for patch info, etc. In our environment usernames are sequentially generated based on starting department (e.g. "tech0183") so it's not obvious who a user account refers to. It would be exceedingly useful if there was another column and field for "AD User Name" that would display "Joe Smith". It would
