Dealing with reimaged and renamed PCs
How do you deal with PCs being renamed? I give the PCs a descriptive hostname when I image them. For example, if it is going in cube 243 in the Accounting department, I might name it ACC243 so I can physically locate it it. If I end up reimaging and re-purposing it to cube 122 in HR, I might name it HR122. However Desktop Central will now contain two entries for the same physical box: ACC243 and HR122. ACC243 will show offline forever (or at least until I put a different PC in cube 243) and seems

Is there an easy way to deploy a Remote desktop connection to windows pc's? I would like to setup a remote desktop connection for users desktops to a remote server pc. is it possible to deploy a config that would create the rdp connection and save it on a users desktop? Then also be able to re apply the config upon login in case it gets deeted.
The system cannot find the specified file
Hi, I sent security updates but I always have the same error in the machines: "The system cannot find the specified file". I don´t know if the issue is by the computer or something in the Desktop Central console. Any ideas what I have to do to fix this? Thank you for your help.

Windows 10 1903 Update
1903 is out and is showing as a patch in Desktop Central. Is it the same procedure as 1809? Upload ISO with specific filename and use configuration to push it out? I was never able to get it to work as a regular patch.

Agent upgrade from 10.0.387W to 10.0.411W failing
Hello, I upgraded my MeDC server to 10.0.411 this morning (from build 387). And this time, agent upgrade is not working. And even worse, I cannot uninstall the agent from MeDC server (to manually upgrade). Communication between agent and server seems OK. And strangely enough even the MeDC server itself cannot upgrade its own agent. Translation of the error is "Connection closed. System Manager > Command Prompt typeface on Macs
I'm using a Mac with the latest version of Chrome, and when I use System Manager > Command prompt to get to the command prompt of a Windows endpoint, the font it uses is a non-monospaced serif font. Chrome on Windows displays using a monospaced sans-serif font which is much easier to read, and output lines up much better. I thought about creating AD group and desktop central configuration on each IP printer. What's the difference between deployment policy timing and automated task timing?
I don't fully understand the difference between an automated task and the deployment policy as for what the timings means in both. One can specify days and hours when the task or policy should trigger its activity. Adding multiple installation commands for msiexec
I am trying to create an installation package for Cisco AnyConnect. There are several modules I need to install that are contained in individual MSI files. How do I enter multiple commands for msiexec to install all required modules? I tried putting in each command in the "Installation Command with Switches/Arguments" field with just a carriage return between each command, but ManageEngine threw an error when I hit "Save Package". Here is my situation: I have a computer named AppTest1. I use it to test configurations on. Every couple of weeks I reimage the computer using our imaging software. Part of the imaging process installs the Desktop Cetral Agent on the computer. Once the computer comes up, Desktop Central begins to deploy every configuration to the machine. Skip OS Deployment
Hi Is it possible to skip the OS Deployment if there is already an OS installed? Currently another PXE Boot Solution is used to reinstall an Computer if it has the Flag for it and if not it will just skip the deployment as there is no Task for the Computer and boots into the normal OS. As we don't want to touch all Computers BIOS Settings and make the PXE Boot the Option after the Harddisk, something like a "Skip if OS already installed" would help. I was trying to create a custom software report to show me all users who have any of the software listed in the search criteria. The problem when I go to select software if I click a letter the list of software is not in Alphabetical order making it really hard to find the software in the list. is there a way to sort this list?

We would like to use DC central reports as an alert/heads-up to issues like the agents not reporting with different thresholds for servers vs desktops so we hoped to use the reporting. 1. Can we have results in-line in an email? Having to open an attachment is often not needed and an extra step/delay while you wait for adobe/excel to open. 2. Can we not send reports if there are no results? I am trying to reduce the 'noise' and if we get something, it is meaningful.

Software Packages stuck on Retry in Progress when newer version installed
I noticed that a few packages we have pushing in our environment are failing. When looking at the remarks, they are all listed as: Installation Failed - Fatal error during installation. I started looking at logs on a few of the machines. Old MS Patch
A couple of questions - 1. This morning I had the patch "Microsoft ASP.NET MVC Security Update MS14-059 (KB2993939)" from 2014 show up as needed on 80+ machines (Windows 7,10,2008R2, 2012R2, and 2016). I have not found any info about the patch being re-issued. It seems strange. Has anyone else had it show up? 2. I have a dozen or so MS patches that are superseded but are still showing up under Missing Patches. Is this normal? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Defer windows updates
Hi, I have seen the option to install updates 3 weeks after Patch Tuesday on our "Desktop Central" panel. Could we defer updates for an specific Custom Group or OU for a longer period of time? Windows 10 allows to activate "Semi-Annual Channel" in advanced settings, but we have disabled windows updates as Desktop Central is working fine I would like to wait some months before updating in few computers. It is a recomendation we have received from "Siemens PLM Software". Thanks.
