Multi Domain Environment
I have just installed the evaluation version of DesktopCental 6.0. I have three domain controllers in the network and two DHCP scopes with different IP range. e.g. 172.xx.xx.x and 192.xx.xx.x. The DesktopCentral is on the 192.xx.xx.x DHCP range. The problem is that when I try to push the DesktopCentral Agent on the machine located on 172.xx.xx.x DHCP segment, it gives me an error messge that access is denied. However, I can successfully installed the Agent on the 192.xx.xx.xx DHCP machines. What
Time of Alerting.
Hello AdventNet, I am trying the trial version of Desktop Central 6 Build 60118. I am interesting to understand how work the alerting when I schedule the daily inventory scan to 13:00. What happen if in that time the computer will be offline? When I receive an alert about installed software or hardware, when it goes online or when next scan will performed. AutoPatchScheduler
When looking at the report of which computers DC has contacted (either successful or failed), I can not sort by Execution Date. I know on most of the other reports you can click on any column header to sort ascending/descending, but on this particular report (under All configurations, AutoPatchSchedu..., Execution Status), the only colums that allow you to sort are "Name", "Domain Name", and "Status". "Execution Time" and "Remark" do not sort. Thanks - jsbac
Defrag
I created a scheduled Defrag on one workstation via Desktop Central. I set it to perform when the computer is idle. This appears to be causing the current user to be logged off when it starts. This has been going on all morning -- that's the only thing that has been changed since last week, so I feel this task is the culprit. I deleted the task so it no longer shows up. Is there a way I can *manually* disable so that it does not defrag due to this task that I previously created?? Thanks! Jason

I am done evaluating Desktop Central 6. When I go to uninstall, I am advised to use the program to uninstall agents on PC's, but since the eval period is past the server wont run. What to do? Thanks Greg P
Patch Mgmt - System Count Discrepancies and Invalid PC Names
Since beginning deployment of Windows updates through Desktop Central 60109, I've noticed that when navigating through Missing Patches and selecting Missing Systems, the number of Missing Systems shown in the Patch List view differs from the actual number of systems listed for individual selection. Then, after selecting to Deploy the patch for selected systems, DC returns errors of computer names that no longer exist in Active Directory or SoM. Remote Desktop
I have added ports 6100 and 8120, still not able to remote desktop . If I turn off the firewall, then its no problem. Once its on, I go under Desktop Sharing, click on the computer that I like to remote into. It will tell me thats its offline. But when the firewall is off, gives me the IP info, no problem to get in. The UEMS agent is not being deleted

When will the Excluded Devices count limitation of 500 DiskDrive devices be increased?
We have that when securing our USB diskdrives, that we can only enter 500 Device Instance IDs. When will this limitation be increased beyond 500?
Self Service Portal Only Showing Succeeded
It seems when we push patches to the Self-Service Portal, it shows it Succeeded for the machines. It used to display In Progress or other status depending on if the user is installing the patches or not. It doesn't seem to be reporting if the user is

Desktop Central Agent cannot connect to server
On all clients, Desktop Central Agent cannot connect to server. All configuration updates on the server show Yet to apply. I've followed the troubleshooting without success. Desktop Sharing not working
I have a couple of problems: #1) I can not get the Agent installed on about 1/4 of my workstations. I *have* followed the suggestions in the knowledge base that deals with this particular issue. #2) On the workstations that do have the Agent installed, I am not able to use the Desktop Sharing feature. Domain name question
Hi to all and sorry for my english I have to manage two domain with equal Netbios name (mydomain.local and mydomain.internal). How i can use Desktop central on this situaction? In "Add domain" windows software need only netbios name but when i try to add second domain he say that already exist although he have different AD Domain name. Can anyone help me? High CPU usage - close to 100%
I have noticed that Desktop Central uses a large amount of the processor on my server. It is an older machine without a lot of memory but runs other Java programs fine with just occasional spikes in Cpu usage. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way of setting a maximum % of CPU to stop it affecting other processes? thanks John
Desktop Sharing Chat Not Working
Does anyone know how to enable the chat feature in desktop sharing? Even though the feature is available on my toolbar, when I click Chat an error appears stating "Chat not accessible". This would be a great feature if it actually worked...

Sometimes I need to manage a single computer so that I can force upgrades to it when I know a user is away. I would like to be able to view a computer's list of problems (such as in the Vulnerable System Report), then have a button or other option to directly update that PC from here, and see the progress of the update. I'm sure this is a pebkac, but I'm just getting started with Desktop Central... I setup a software install configuration, to force an XP sp3 install for all users on the domain (each user has their own computer, and just about all of them are running XP sp2). From what I understand, this should be executed for each user when they next login to the domain. I tested by logging off my system and then back on, and sure enough the status changed from "Ready to execute" to "In progress". When I check status

Patch Management scan but not update
Hi to all and sorry for my english, Desktop Central 6. I try to manage one workstation (WXp Pro 64bit Sp2) and one server (W2003Std Sp1) to understand software capability. Agent is installed correctly (6.1.9); hardware and software inventory/history work fine. In Patch Management i have this issue: From Scan Systems (0/2) i check both 2 workstation and click to scan System button. Configuration Status Not Updating
We have a software configuration that successfully pushes out but the status is not reflected in the status. Despite refreshing the status, it continues to say "ready to execute". We are using v6.0.0 build 60112.
Software Inventory Not Known
Viewing the software inventory list of computers, the Frequency of Use and Compliant Status columns show Not Known and Not Available. DTC has been running on these computers for two weeks now - I expect these columns to have data present. What might be wrong here? Build 60110. Regards, David.
Can't deploy from Vulnerability Summary
If I view a highly vulnerable system and look at its Vulnerability Summary, I can't deploy the missing\needed patches directly to that computer. If I view the Missing Patches for the entire SOM, I can deploy the patches but I either apply the Configuration to all computers, or have to manually sort those that are missing the patches. Surely it would be better to be able to deploy the missing patches to the exact computer viewed in the Vulnerability Summary? Can this feature be added? Regards, David.

Is it possible to change the default deployment time from 90 minutes to say 60 minutes?

I am new to this so I've probably missed something. I have no issues deploying the remote agent to any pc EXCEPT the desktop central server itself. am I correct in thinking that it should since it also has deployment needs? thanks.
Computers by age
I just ran a Computers by age report. The Year it provides on pc's I have just built in the last month or so are incorrect. Which leads me to think that all the listed entries are incorrect. Where is this report getting the information from?
serious issue's with agent deployment
we had a problem with the server that was running Desktop Central. Basically it died. Restoring it is not an options. so we downloaded DC again, installed our license. When we went to deploy the agent all but a handfull of PC's will not install the agent. The error message we get is "UNABLE TO GET AGENT STATUS, TIMED OUT" the first time we setup DC we got this on about 1/4 of our machines and just put the man hours in and installed the agent manually on the machines. this time the problem is with
