monitoring jboss instances
I'm trying to set up a jboss instance monitor. We're running jboss 3.2.3 on a redhat box. When I set up a monitor I'm told it failed because the service is not running. I'm wondering if this is because it's configured to only respond to specific URL names and not an IP address. Can the monitor be configured to work via a FQDN instead of an IP? Thanks!
Modifying variables in the web-console
Dear All, I am getting started with AdventNet ManageEngine Applications Manager 6 Beta. I'd like to manage a custom SNMP application which exposes some read-write variables. By this time I have found how to read the values of these variables in the web console. Now I'd like to modify them. Is this possible and how can I do it? If not, could you, please, refer me to the products (customizable consoles) that can manage arbitrary SNMP applications. Yours, Zeleny.
All monitors have an unknown status

Monitoring Tomcat on HP-UX servers
Hi, Just wanted to know if App Mgr can be used to monitor Tomcat installations independent of the underlying O/S. I tried to monitor a Tomcat instance on HP-UX but it seems to fail. I presume monitors can only be added for systems running on Windows, Linux or Sun OS, is that correct? Thanks. Regards, Lucas

How is data gathered?
Hello there, I am currently using Application Manager 6 and have the following question about the Tomcat responce time - are the values shown by the Application Manager based on a request initiated from the Application Manager to the Tomcat server or is it based on data that Tomcat itself provides regarding all requests that it receives?
Feature Request. A different type of Custom Monitor.
Some applications cannot be monitored via snmp, or on a TCP port level. It would be nice if we could configure a monitor that allowed us to specify a local program/script to execute. Inside this script someone could write code to check on the status of such application. Like using Perl's NET::TELNET to access the remote machine and run application specific commands. Inside your custom program/script you would have to determine weather the response was valid. Then you would return either by error

Recurring Actions?
Is there any way to set a notification happen on a recurring interval till the alert has gone away? For example, a WebLogic server went down, and one notification went out. My assumption was that since only one went out, somebody had logged in and checked into it. However, when I went to check AM6, I noticed that that instance had been down the entire time; it was just that only one notification went out. Can it be setup so that the alert will keep going out until the problem is fixed? Thanks

Has anyone tried to monitor WebSphere 3.5.7? I know this product does not support that version out of the box but was hoping someone has developed some type of interface that will.
Application Manager 6 and Opmanager 5.5 on same server?
With the previous versions of Application Manager 6 Beta and Opmanager 5.0 we could use both applications on the same server. But with version AppMan 6 and Opman 5.5 we can only start 1 of them. So we can use AppMan 6 or Opman 5.5 but not together. When one service is started the other service could not start and we see Initialization completed. Mysqld-nt.exe and apache.exe is started for both environments. We've tried it also on another Windows 2003 Standard server and there we have the same problem.

db instances, and tomcat application health idicators
hi - While testing both the mssql-db and tomcat 5 monitors - I've noticed that the detail indicators don't seem to be registering. e.g., MSSQL - db instances doesn't show anything for tx volume, and Tomcat doesn't show anything for specific apps. Is there anything specific I need to do in order to start capturing that level of detail, or is it something that is coming in the GA release? Thanks Brian
SSH Mode of Monitoring: Build 6002
AdventNet - Your demo is impressive, so I downloaded the beta version of 6 (build 6002) to my XP box. It installed and was up and running without a hitch. I have another local computer with only SSH (outside of HTTP/S) open to the outside. When I try to add a monitor, the only available "Mode of Monitoring" options are Telnet and SNMP. The demo running on your site (build 6003) has SSH as an additional option. Was this something added in that build, or is there a configuration I'm missing somewhere?
OpManager and ApplicationManager Integration
Hi, Looking at the OpManager and ApplicationManager one can see a lot of similar aspects. My company is interested in a whole solution for monitoring both network and applications with one-point for components configuration. Is there any intention to integrate these 2 tools to one holistic solution? If yes, when is it estimate to be available? If I'm using OpManager will the integration will be seamless? Thanks, Guy.
