 “Failover

Failover is the ability to automatically switch to a reliable backup system, database, server or network, when the primary system fails with unpredicted system or component failure.

Failover is an integral part of any business disaster recovery plan, the failover process involves the heartbeat sensing mechanism, which sends a signal between the primary and secondary (backup) devices. The heartbeat signal is usually configured for a predefined amount of time. Whenever the primary device stops responding to the signal, the failover takes place. The secondary system will mimic as the operating system environment.

Even though Failover process may seem like an unnecessary financial burden, its main purpose to keep your application work seamless and to eliminate, or at least reduce, the impact on users when a system failure occurs.
