[DidYouKnow - 25] User Account Lock Feature

The user "Account Lock" feature prevents security breaches and protects user accounts from potential fraud or abuse. Security settings allow the Administrator to configure security-related options without looking for Technicians to help solve security issues.

Administrator in Service Desk Plus can enable this feature at [Admin tab -> General settings -> Security settings ]  "Configure account lockout threshold and duration"



  • The admin can configure the settings in such a way that, if a user enters wrong credentials for 'n' number of times, the account gets locked automatically

  • Admin can configure the account lock duration in minutes. 

  • Admin can choose either of option to "Lock the user's computer alone" or "Account in all the computers".

  • Once the user account gets locked Admin can prompt a customized message in the user login page, like the sample given on the screenshot below.

  • Admin can enable the following notification to notify one of them through email about the user account lock.

  • When the user login attempt reaches the preset limit, ServiceDesk throws a following error on the user login screen.  


  • When the user account gets locked, the application prompts the following message. 


  • Admin can view the locked accounts at [Admin tab -> Security settings]
